Hammock Beach Resort
Nestled on a secluded stretch of unspoiled coast, between St. Augustine and Daytona Beach, lies one of the most beautiful getaways in East Central Florida. Perfect for the ultimate staycation, the effortless drive to Palm Coast makes it an idyllic place to disconnect for a weekend. That’s just what we did at the fabulous AAA Four Diamond Hammock Beach Resort.
As you drive onto the property, the palm lined drive way sets the tone for the grandeur of the towers that rise out of the coastal horizon. The stunning architecture and magnificent grounds are unlike any other property in the region, setting it apart before you even set foot in the lobby. The porte-cochere ushers you into a warm and intimate lobby where you will be greeted with hospitality as warm as the sun drenched beaches you’ll see glimmering through the windows.
From the check-in desk you head to your choice of accommodations from what seems to be an endless list of options. With any choice you make, you can bet that the quality, amenities and amazing views are incomparable to anything in the market with more than 330 guest rooms, suites and villas .
The Main Tower Suites have ample space for friends and family to gather. Located centrally in the resort, they are steps away from everything Hammock Beach has to offer. All Main Tower suites have amazing ocean views and provide your choice of one bedroom Suites that offer a king size bed and adjoining living area with kitchenette or the spacious three to four bedrooms suites with private bedrooms, living and dining areas, fully equipped kitchens and washer/dryers. Adjacent to the Main Towers are the posh new Ocean Towers. In the Towers, the elegantly appointed three bedroom suites feature a private balcony with epic views of the Ocean Course and Atlantic coastline. The master suite is fitted with a king sized bed and a spacious bathroom with a luxurious garden tub and walk-in shower. Additional bedrooms each have their own lush bathrooms with flat screen televisions and DVD players in every room as well as complimentary wireless internet.
The suites are all well designed with open floor plans and elegant but comfortable décor. Under the large flat screen, the living room featured a fire place completing the rich feel of the space. Our kitchen was equipped for a gourmet gathering and the in-suite laundry room was beyond convenient. There truly was nothing more we could have asked for.
In addition to the Main Tower, there are private Villas, a gorgeous intimate boutique style Lodge, intracoastal Yacht Harbor Village, family friendly Cinnamon Beach and The Marina at Yacht Harbor Village –each with its own appeal, with their own style and amenities. The combination of suites, spacious one to four bedroom villas, condominiums and even vacation homes gives guests a plethora of accommodation options unlike any resort we’ve seen.
While the rooms leave little to be desired, the true magic of the resort awaits outside. Before we even go there, we’ll tell you that you will need more than one weekend to see and do everything there is to experience on this fantastic property. The moment you settle into the resort, you’ll already be planning your trip back. From the amazing water park to the spa and tennis to its award-winning golf, the collection of activities is truly amazing. And of course, there is always that gorgeous beach.
Water seems to be a common theme in the collection of activities at the resort. Kids will be amazed by the 6-acre 91,000 square foot grand scale water pavilion. Float down the lazy river, ride their twisting water slide or build a poolside sandcastle; all with full food and beverage service, colorful tropical landscaping, and both sunny and shaded lounge areas. Mom and Dad (or us single folks) will want to check out the adult pool, zero entry beach pool and the warm indoor pool with the relaxing semi-private spa garden. In addition to these main pools, each area of the resort has its own pool with 9 on the property. As a daycation for both parents and little travelers, kids 4-12 can take part in the Kids Crew. From scavenger hunts and beach games to fun in the pool, your kids will love getting to spend the day on their terms, with their friends, while you get to do the same.
Make time to pamper yourself at The Spa at Hammock Beach. With its incredible collection of products, that are made and enhanced with the resources and minerals found right on its beaches, it is truly a unique spa experience. Relax with one of their signature massages blending elements of hot stones and aroma therapy on the beach on your own or with your significant other. Get a manicure, pedicure or even a men-icure (a much more manly version of handscaping, minus the polish).
After all of that relaxation, we head back outdoors to enjoy one the amenities that has truly made this resort one of Florida’s ultimate destinations - golf. With Signature design courses by Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson, golfers can choose to take in breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean from 6 different holes or take on the longest and most-challenging course in the state.
The Ocean Course is a signature design of legendary player and designer Jack Nicklaus that offers a perfect blend of fun and challenge for all classes of golfers. This top 100 golf course is unlike anything else in the State of Florida with more holes on the ocean than any other course. The course concludes with a thrilling finale dubbed “The Bear Claw” a collection of four daunting holes precariously edging the sweeping coastline.
Taking your game inland brings you to The Conservatory Course, which has been called Florida’s longest and hardest course. The Tom Watson design has the highest slope rating in Florida. The signature 8th hole is a picturesque island green, and the 18th hole features a tee box at an elevation of almost 100 feet with a panoramic view of
nearly the entire course. Check out the spectacular elevated clubhouse resembling a turn-of-the-century palace with a glassed conservatory and magnificent views as you complete your day of golf. Golf packages are available with your reservation, so book together and save in advance of your arrival.
Like the diverse amenities and activities on property, you will find a collection of restaurant options for every palette. For breakfast head to the Atlantic Grille Oceanfront Restaurant at the Lodge for ala carte specialties, juices, fresh baked breads and pastries. We recommend the Pecan French Toast – it’s a little decadent, but that’s just what you do when your on vacation. During the day while at the pool, you can grab the typical island inspired poolside fare at Ocean Bar & Grill. The resort’s signature eatery is Delfinos Italian Restaurant. The understated modern elegance of the dining room is unpretentious and follows the overall no-jacket required feel of the resort. The regional Italian menu features signature dishes with contemporary flair. You can also head back to the Atlantic Grille where fresh seafood takes center stage or head upstairs to the intimate Sushi Bar where the finest sushi grade fish and freshly prepared varieties of temaki, sashimi and chirashi are served. After dinner, the resort’s cigar bar is a popular stop where a fully stocked walk-in cigar humidor including Ashtons, Montecristos, Padrons and a complete selection of single malt scotch, ports and cognacs await.
One of the most extravagant amenities is the resort’s specially commissioned 117’ event yacht. With two bars, full galley, lounge with fireplace, humidor, HDTV and much more, the incredible Sundancer has regularly scheduled cruises leaving from the Yacht Harbor Marina. Grab a cocktail, dinner or mimosas and bloody mary’s as a part of the truly fabulous brunch cruise on the weekends. It’s also available for private parties for those of you planning your next special event.
A truly amazing destination right in our backyard, Hammock Beach exceeds the criteria for a great resort in many ways. With so many of us living in the heart of a world famous beach destination, this resort sets the bar for the region and should be at the top of your list to escape the hustle and bustle of the touristy strip.
